What is RO Efficiency and Why Should You Care?
RO (Reverse Osmosis) efficiency measures how effectively your RO system converts incoming water into purified water. Higher efficiency means more clean water output and less waste, which directly affects operating costs and environmental impact.
How to Calculate RO Efficiency
Here is the formula:
[\text{RO Efficiency} = \frac{\text{RO Water}}{\text{Total Water}} \times 100]
Where:
- RO Water is the volume of purified water produced.
- Total Water is the total volume of water processed by the system.
The result is expressed as a percentage.
Calculation Example
An RO system processes 800 gallons of water and produces 400 gallons of purified water.
[\text{RO Efficiency} = \frac{400}{800} \times 100 = 50]
The RO efficiency is 50%, meaning half of the input water is converted to purified water.
