Drywall Weight Formula
The formula for calculating drywall weight is:
$$\text{Weight (lbs)} = \frac{\text{Area (ft}^2\text{)} \times \text{Thickness (in)}}{12} \times 38.205$$
Where:
- Area = Total square footage of drywall
- Thickness = Thickness of the drywall sheet in inches
- 38.205 = Density constant for standard gypsum drywall (lbs/ftยณ)
Calculation Example
For 50 ftยฒ of drywall with 0.5 inch thickness:
$$\text{Weight} = \frac{50 \times 0.5}{12} \times 38.205 = \frac{25}{12} \times 38.205 \approx 79.59 \text{ lbs}$$
